Convatec Ostomy Product Launch | Esenta Replacing Niltac and Silesse in Canada
Many ostomates across Canada have used Convatec’s Niltac adhesive remover spray or wipes for years. The Silesse barrier spray and wipes another staple in many ostomates’ routines. Convatec has recently discontinued Niltac and Silesse, replacing them with the Esenta line. But don’t worry, the change isn’t as scary as you might think! Our Marketing Coordinator, Carly Allen, who has a colostomy, called Convatec to get additional information and here’s what she found out.
What to know about Convatec Esenta and this change
The good news is that the only real difference is that the spray propellent has changed, allowing easier application. It’s now more environmentally friendly, which is great to hear. The ingredients remain the same: a silicone-based product. Esenta wipes and sprays the same as Niltac and Silesse; you don’t need to wipe the skin after application. If you use the AllKare products, you will have to cleanse the skin to remove residue so appliances can adhere. The distribution process takes time, so the biggest negative at this time is that you likely can’t get these products until the New Year. As of today, there is still stock available in the Niltac Wipes and the Silesse Spray and Wipes. Once inventory is sold, they will no longer be available for purchase.
