What is Metagenics CandiBactin-BR Used For?

As a provider of health and wellness supplements and medical supplies, InnerGood digs deeper into the brands we carry, going beyond each product label so that we can answer questions that our customers may have. And given that our most popular supplement brand is Metagenics, we often receive inquiries about their products, especially CandiBactin-BR which often gets recommended to help support a healthy intestinal environment, improved immune function, and detoxification.

CandiBactin-BR is used to fight various types of infections such as minor to mild diarrhea, and it also can help alleviate bloating, stomach upset, cramps and gas.

It’s been used in combination with Candibactin-AR to help with SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). It also can be recommended for individuals living with IBD, IBS or an ostomy. Here’s a review of how CandiBactin-BR can play a part in improving your Gastrointestinal Health.

*Note: consult with your physician before consuming CandiBactin-BR or any self-care health supplement.

What You Need to Know About Metagenics CandiBactin-BR’s Role in Improving Your Gastrointestinal Health

It Contains Berberine

CandiBactin-BR is a berberine based formula. Berberine is a plant-derived (see image above) compound with many health benefits. When you ingest berberine, it gets taken in by your body, is transported into the bloodstream, and then travels into the body’s cells. From there, it binds to several “molecular targets” and changes their function in a manner similar to how pharmaceutical drugs work, but naturally. Those changes are often highly beneficial.

Studies show that berberine is a potent oral hypoglycemic agent that has significant beneficial effects on lipid metabolism. By definition, lipid metabolism is the synthesis and degradation of lipids (an important component of living cells), which involves the breakdown or storage of fats used for energy. These fats are obtained via food consumption or through absorption or are synthesized by the liver. Individuals living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) exhibit lipid abnormalities. High lipid levels equate to high amounts of cholesterol and triglycerides circulating in your blood, which can put you at risk of coronary heart disease and stroke. Lipid abnormalities are also correlated with type-2 diabetes. IBD and correspondingly high lipid levels can compound your preexisting health concerns. Given berberine’s role in managing lipid metabolism, it’s worth considering adding this compound to your dietary regime.

Berberine is also known for its antimicrobial properties and thus supplementation has shown to have a positive effect on the intestinal microbiome, gut hormones, and mucosa, in addition to ulcerative colitis and other bowel disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome.

Additional Herbs to Harmonize the Actions of Berberine

Oregon grape - Ingredient in CandiBactin-BR - What is Metagenics CandiBactin-BR Used For?The berberine is extracted from natural plant sources including Oregon Grape and Coptis Root, which together support gastrointestinal health. But what makes the CandiBactin-BR formula even better than taking berberine on its own, is that it incorporates other important herbs that have been shown to promote a calm digestive tract. These herbs include Ginger Rhizome, Chinese Licorice, and Chinese Rhubarb Root, all of which work harmoniously with the 400 mg per serving of berberine sulphate. Let’s take a brief look at the gastrointestinal benefits of each of these herbs on their own.

In addition to the many proven benefits of ginger, data shows that the herb and its constituents accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract, which supports numerous observations of its effectiveness as an anti-nausea agent. There is also evidence to suggest that it may serve as a colon cancer-preventing compound.

Then there’s licorice root, which has traditionally been used to soothe gastrointestinal problems and to speed the repair of the stomach lining and restore balance in the digestive tract. Rhubarb has also been used in traditional Chinese medicine to promote gut health, and there is recent research data to show that rhubarb root can support gut microbial diversity.

In addition to the aforementioned herbal trifecta, CandiBactin-BR includes Chinese Skullcap Root (often used to treat leaky gut syndrome) and Phellodendron Bark (has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial effects).

With CandiBactin-BR, Metagenics has worked tirelessly to put together a herbal formula that provides one of the most complete gastrointestinal health supplements on the market today.
