These are urine reagent test strips made by Roche Diagnostics, sold under the name Chemstrip GP.

The GP strips are designed to test two primary parameters in urine: Glucose and Protein.

These parameters help in screening for kidney function, metabolic disorders (e.g. glucose — which can hint at diabetes when present in urine), and proteinuria (which can indicate kidney stress or damage).

• You collect a urine sample, dip the strip briefly into the urine, then remove it and tap off excess liquid.

• After a short wait (typically around 30 seconds to a minute, depending on the specific pad), you compare the color of the reagent pads on the strip to a color chart on the bottle/vial. This “color-match” tells you whether glucose or protein is present, and roughly how much (semi-quantitative).

• If there’s no color change (or a negative result), that parameter is considered “normal” (i.e. no excess glucose or protein detected).
