Milk thistle is traditionally used in Herbal Medicine as a liver protectant and is rich in flavonoids known collectively as silymarin. Silymarin supports liver function by inhibiting unwanted toxins from entering the cell, reducing free radical damage, and supporting healthy levels of glutathione and superoxide dismutase, two primary substances with antioxidant activity in the liver.
